I am also looking at using the click bond for the tips. the flight shop sells a
kit just for the RV10 wingtips.
http://www.theflightshop.com/
There is a red banner in the lower left of the page. A bit expensive but cheaper
than buying seperate.

I love the clic bond product. I used a lot of them on my wire runs along the fuselage,
I like the kind that accepts the small zip ties. They are extraordinarily
helpful on the wire runs - zero chafe and virtually weightless. You must scuff
the site and clean it carefully. The stuff is expensive. I spent over $200
but worth every cent. If it is good enuf for Boeing and AirBus it is good enuf
for me.

Subject: | Static Discharge Wicks |
I have been noticing some static in my radio (SL30) lately and I wonder if the
lack of any static wicks (I had several on my C182) on the RV10 might contribute
to radio interference. I would like to know if anyone on this blog has installed
static wicks? If you put them on - where were they installed and how many?
What their experience has been and which ones they purchased. Spruce wants
$52, but an outfit called Sky Geeks wants only $13-15 for similar static wicks?
Since I am getting close to paint time - I'd appreciate input.

The kit I bought second hand had static wicks installed on the elevator and
I think theres one or two on the rudder also. As I'm sure you know, for the
static wicks to work properly you need to bond the control surfaces to the
rest of the airframe. At the point in the build where I took over I have
not installed any more wicks--yet. I am bonding the control surfaces to the
airframe though that way if I think I need static wicks--if and when the
plane ever flies--I can easily install the wicks later.

Subject: | Re: Static Discharge Wicks |
I am installing static wicks as I go. The Dayton-Granger people have published a document showing where they recommend installing wicks for the RV-10. Here is a copy: http://mouser.org/projects/rv-10/dayton-granger-rv10.png
They recommend two on each elevator, two on the rudder, and three on each wing.
I bought one of the cheap wicks from skygeek but wasn't impressed with the
quality, and went instead with the considerably more expensive (and very impressive
build quality) DG16165 wicks (also from skygeek, $42 each, cheaper than
spruce).
Cheers,
