I don't mind them too much but I wish they were addendum's or maybe just online.
I feel like I lose a month of content every time one of the "list" issues
comes out and I believe they are up to three a year now. Marc tends to watch
these high activity lists so hopefully he sees some of the feedback.

Density is good. I still look forward to Kitplanes with one big
reservation - the 'survey' issues where they do the lists - lists of
plans built aircraft, lists of kits, lists of engines. A waste of
paper... just filler.
Maintaining those kinds of lists is a service to the community I guess
but just put it on a web page. I want to see Stein's series or the
machine shop stuff. How-to stuff is the draw for me even if it's stuff
I don't plan to ever do.

I totally agree with Michael. Those three issues are almost content free in
my opinion. They should maintain these lists on their web site. Or do
like some other industries and produce an annual buyer's guide to give to
new subscribers.

Just thought I would throw this out there if anybody is building their too
l kit and needs unibits. Napa has a sale on part # VG 3018008 which contai
ns Unibit #1 (1/8 - 1/2) and unibit # 4 (3/16 - 7/8) and 7 turbomax drill
bits all for $45.00. I think I paid almost that for the #3 that came with
my tool kit. I just got mine today and it comes in a nice case also. The
sale is good till the end of March but I believe it is a closeout . I st
ill marvel how easy unibits make holes in sheet metal compared to regular
drill bits.

I am having trouble getting the bottom rib to lay flush against the skin. I clamped
the rib to a straight edge when drilling the two pieces of the rib together.
But, the flange on the spar is a good bit higher than the rib. I have tried
using fluting pliers and other bending tools to get the two flanges even
with each other. This would be on the right side.

Jake,
Check that your R-1010A Sheer Clip is oriented correctly. (That is
short flange pointed up - not down). If any of the sheer clips are
pointed down, it will cause the associated rib/skin holes to be
misaligned.

$12 at Harbor freight. Worked fine for me the whole time, a mechanic
once brought his professional unibit over and he couldn't tell the
difference other than that he "felt" it might be a little faster to make
holes but in the end he conceded that the HF works.
I say spend the money on drill bits however, there is a difference
there.

I went both routes and found the following with one of the the HF
unibits. After repeated use in several different materials, I notice
that suddenly, it stopped cutting. It appeared (to my untrained eye)
that the bit had a very hard but thin surface. It cut as well as the
higher priced unibit up to that point. Then, once it wore through the
thin hard coating, it became worthless. Can anyone validate such an
observation?
Of course I simply grabbed one of the other unibits that came in the
same $12 package and I still had the high priced bit in reserve.
Whatever the difference, the HF bits seem like a good deal. They'll
work until they don't, then you can replace them, twice, for the price
of the high dollar bits.

hose or the old rubber style. From what I understand the:
Rubber lined hoses need to be replaced every 5 years
Teflon lined hoses never need replacement
I sent an e-mail to Vans asking them about this, and Ken Scott replied that the
hoses are Teflon but did state anything about life limits.
Any intelligent comments appreciated............

instead of 'need to be' say 'recommended'. Kinda like TBO. The rub ber
hoses have lasted over 30 years ..... as long as you don't move them.
They do get brittle.

hoses. Teflon hoses will also take a set with age. They may not get

Teflon hose is IRAN - "Inspect and replace as needed". I am still searchin
g for ""Lifetime hoses,belts, seals and universal joints". I have conclude
d their life limit is known when they fail in flight. YMMV.

I put teflon hoses with integral firesleeve on my Mooney 8 years ago.
They are still fine. No deterioration noted.,
All you need from Vans is the part number of the hose they supply and
you can tell what it is.

Only teflon hoses are available with integral fireshield, so those are
okay. I'd want to know about the oil hoses as well.

220RV will be flown to SNF by pilots from Vans. While there, the RV10 will only
be used for demo rides, not transition training. Sorry.
It should be back in Maryland a few days after SNF concludes. I can help you out
after that, but at St Marys airport only.
