Subject: | Re: Fuel tank skin not fitting tank ribs. |
Well, last night I managed to get the tank skins cleco'd to the ribs. Turns out
the major issue was that it was a 2-person job and I had been using an insufficient
number of persons. I recruited the wife to hold the skin steady out of
the cradle while I cleco'd the skin to the ribs starting in the middle and working
my way up both sides. Thanks again for the tips.

the math on if an #50 hole can provide the volume of air to offset 10+ gall

another reason to have two holes per vent line. I have the normal vent line
s beveled forward and inside the fairing I have a #50 hole drilled in the
backside of the vent line. This is in a protected area in case impact ice o

Subject: | egt probe suggestions |
I've looked at the VAF forums for egt probe locations as my Dynon manual
gives a broad range. I was going to settle for 3 inches as that seemed
like a good compromise between shorter life of the probe at 2" and
slower change at 4". I noticed there was a flyer however that had his at
2.75 inches from the flange and they burnt off, maybe too lean? maybe an
issue with Dynon probes?
So my question- I know EI has a 1.5-2 inch range in their probes so I
think there is a difference in probes and who makes them. Anyone with
Dynon provided probes have any issues of longetivity? and where did you
position them in reference to the flange?
Thanks

Re: The oil cooler splitter for RV-10s. We here at Airflow Systems supply
these splitters at no charge when you buy one of our X series oil coolers
from Alex de Dominicis or from us. We did extensive testing to validate the
effect of the splitter and it improves the air distribution over the face of
the oil cooler, which improves the effectiveness of the cooler.
The stock Vans cooler is insufficient if you are in a warm climate and wish
to fly the RV-10 at gross and obtain anything close to optimum climb
performance. We have now delivered over 85 2006X and 2008X coolers, mostly
to RV and F-1 Rocket owners. We also supply a variety of louvers as most
Van's and James cowls have insufficient exit area.
I try to stay off the forums as a commercial entity, but since we developed
the splitter we thought people should know they are available, with
instructions, for $49.00 from Airflow Systems, 949-218-9701.

These brackets have been driving me crazy. I got the first bracket perfect, the
left bracket. I screwed up the second, the right bracket. So, I tossed it.
There was just enough angle left to try cutting the right bracket again. My
cut is ok.... but, the two holes are about 1/32 or 2/32 lower than the two holes
on the left bracket.
Do I need to keep re-doing these brackets over and over until I get them perfect
or are they ok?

This is great information. I will try and remember to add it to add this to

I am wondering if anyone has tested this it would be tuff to test and get
good numbers for a 10.

Do you have a set of calipers?- Either dial or digital?- Do you have a
drill press?- Do you have any center drills?- If you have all these, th

You will use these throughout the build... any questions, email me offline

Make 'em perfect or buy those aftermarket ones.....when you see how
they fit into the plane and hold things together, you'll be glad
they're as perfect as they can be.

Get the wiring kit instructions for $10, but not the kit itself. Consider dropping
the door handles, if you are going to upgrade to one of the after market options.
Drop the engine baffle material and get the silicone stuff. If you are
going to use the magneto key switch and two door locks combination, you can special
order the same thing from ACS with three locks so you can lock both doors
and baggage door.

Subject: | Protective covers? |
The sensors have to be extremely sensitive to measure the change in pressure
associated with a change in AOA, so putting a suction cup over the AOA port
might have a negative effect on the calibration of the sensor(s). Just a
thought, I don't know the system or components.

Subject: RV10-List: Protective covers?
I was thinking of making one or two little protective covers for my AOA
pressure ports using a couple of suction cups with a "Remove before Flight"
tag hanging off.
Overkill, or useful?
