Thanks Tom. I looked at Greg Hale's site last night and he is using the generic bracket from Van's. That looks like the way to go. Hello all, I noticed that during my past two IFR flights, my XM receiver stops updating if I am in solid IFR for a while. This is precisely the time I need it most. The first time it happened, I did not think much of it but yesterday I did not have service for exactly one hour while IMC and in on/off light rain. On subsequent flight, on the same day (not IFR any more) I had good reception. I have a GRT with XM weather and I wonder if anyone has experienced the same issue. Thanks, Rob

    From: Michael Kraus <n223rv@wolflakeairport.net>
I was flying yesterday using Foreflight on my iphone or the first time, and after a bit I lost my cell phone signal (still had gps signal) and a "cannot connect to Foreflight" window popped up and the program stopped. I had the maps downloaded on the iPhone and I assumed it would work like SkyCharts does, with or without cell service. Are others seeing this? I shut the program down, restarted, it worked for 10-20 seconds, then I got the message again. I was hoping I could somehow acknowledge the message and have the program continue normally, but no such luck. So I used SkyCharts the rest of the flight..... -Mike Kraus Sent from my iPhone

The same thing happened to me on my ipad a couple days ago but it ended up working fine for me. I think I fixed it by one of a couple things....either it was by disabling wifi and cellular data, or it was from just tapping that dialog box an it went away. I try to get in the habit of disabling all the extra RF things anyway, so not having them on might have helped tell the software that it shouldn't bother connecting....but I do believe I got the pop up and after tapping it it went away. I'll have to test it on another flight and see. Maybe they introduced that or it's a bug in the new 3,51 version. You should ask them by emailing them at team@foreflight.com. I've found them very responsive. Personally, the software is now full of so many features that even though skycharts worked good for me too, I stopped doing chart updates with skycharts. My only complaint, one that I'm going to tell them at OSH, is that I'd wish they reverse their decision about geo referenced approach charts. They said the ipad gps wasn't accurate enough and couldn't be trusted for precision ifr. I say, since some of us can use Bluetooth gps, they should do it, but with a disclaimer...because my gps is plenty accurate. Anyway, play with it and I'm sure you'll find a way to get rid of the message, but email them too...maybe they'll remove it from software or fix it. Just my shot to wave the flag and proclaim our freedom to fly and even write these blogs this holiday weekend. I will not even try to compare the US to any other country with our freedom to fly and build these amazing flying machines. Nowhere else in the world with the possible exception of the Aussies is there the amazing freedom to fly and build your own plane. We all must fight to defend our flying rights through EAA, AOPA and any other local clubs or groups. The flying fraternity is under attack every day from hypocritical green weenies who want to cut us back on landing rights, fuel usage, or closure/restrictions on airports. Harrison Ford said it best when challenged by a green weenie about his multiple aircraft. He said, "I can only use one at a time and - When you start walking - I'll start walking." Hurrray EAA, Hurray AOPA, Hurrray Mr Ford, Hurrray Vans Aircraft Corp and a big hurrrray America. -------- OSH '10 or Bust Q/B - finally done Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=303634#303634

Having the hinge force it down a little may be fine but I would fix it so that it really is minimal and without much resistance get the door to fit first than take care of the gaps everywhere. I just put the seals on for the first time. As many else have experienced, a perfect fitting door is no longer perfect fitting after putting on the seals. The door is sitting proud only on the top of the door. Once I put the hinges on the door, will compression remedy this issue or will I need to figure out another solution? I also have the problem at the bottom of the door where there is a gap on the forward section of the door. That should just be a straight forward solution of building the rain gutter back up until it's flush along the entire bottom. From: "jayb" <jaybrinkmeyer@yahoo.com>
I'm finally ready to complete my B&C L60 alternator installation after a long wait to get a leaking crank seal replaced. The B&C install manual says to "install the belt and adjust the tension", but adjust to what? They are very specific about bolt/nut torque values, but not about what a properly tensioned belt looks like. Are there tips on how tight is tight enough from others that have already done the install? Thanks, Jay Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=303651#303651
