It appears I am finally going to pull the trigger on getting an iPhone.-
There are no shortage of options to support flying the RV-10 but from the d
iscussions I have read it looks like folks really like Skycharts and Forefl
ight.- It appears that the chart updates on Skycharts is free, can anyone
confirm that?- Also, are there other apps I should check out?- New toy
s...I mean tools...are so much fun.

Hey Guys,
While you're on rain gear, I've been going surf fishing every Sept on the Outer
Banks for the past 50 yrs. and I've finally found rain gear that is light weight,
breathes, and is priced reasonably.. Check out Frogg Toggs
http://www.froggtoggs.com/
Sport shops usually carry them, or Ebay, or buy online.
They really rock ... swim ... float ... whatever!

Thanks to everyone for the responses and offers for help. I'm sure we'll
take you up on at least some of it. Does anybody know where they are
going to park the 10's this year? We'll run out of room if they put us
in the same place as last year. This group is amazing, after flying
519PJ out last year for the 1st time, and with 5 straight years
attendance, I figured we'd sit out OSH 2010, after all, I really don't
need to buy anything for the plane, and looking at avionics just gives
me buyers remorse, the airshow -as amazing as it is - has lost its
allure, there are fewer and fewer new experimental designs brought each
year to check out, it probably will rain, its always humid, it costs too
much, .............
But a couple of months ago, I started thinking about RV10HQ and all of
you guys and I just couldn't NOT be there. I even convinced Judy to camp
this year. The closer it gets the more excited I get about coming.
Looking forward to seeing everyone sometime Sat. Is there a shuttle
service from HBP to Scholler? We'll have a bunch of stuff to schlep.
What day's is Eddie planning on being there?

After, many, many years of lurking, we are now officially RV-10 builders. I
bought the tailkit from Chris Klugewicz, and am now in the tool collection
phase.
We go back to the James McClow/Yahoo days, and have about 5 hours in the
ten, including a couple with Mike Seager in the factory Continental version.
My newly minted pilot/wife Karen and I will be at Oshkosh all week, and we
look forward the meeting everyone, notebook and camera in hand.
We own N2700W, a Mooney M20E based in Morristown, TN.

Both Skycharts and Foreflight include chart updates as a part of their

We're northeast of you. Just finished fuel tanks and wing wiring. Starting on bottom

and flew with Joe Blank. I am renting 172's right now. Hoping to finish by snf

I have a Iphone and foreflight. I love the app on the Iphone, but the best is
the foreflight on the Ipad.
One foreflight subscription works for both devices.

Steve,
Be sure to stop by the RV-10 HQ after the airshow and for the dinners to
meet the other RV-10 builders. Keep watching this list for the
announcement on what nights dinners will be planned. Usually, the powers to
be (Brenda and Susan) don't decide until Saturday or Sunday. They'll be
plenty of spouses around, so Karen won't feel out of place.

Last I heard from Jeff is that there area is going to be expanded a little
more again this year since the RV population in general is growing.
Personally, I think they should convert of the RED parking area to aircraft
parking.
For the man that has almost everything, you need one of these from Geoff
(http://aerosportproducts.com/nacavalve.htm)
HBP has a converted pickup they use to shuttle pilots to Scholler. It's
just a question of timing.
If EAA uses rental white Ford pickups again this year, there may be an
alternative shuttle service available depending on when you arrive. Worse
case, give us a call and several of us can meet you and assist with the
gear. I was given some help when I parked in Vintage a couple years ago
and am more than will to help others.

Ditto here. I have skycharts, foreflight, and wingx. Foreflight is
my favorite. They are all different in some way. They all have ipad
versions that are even nicer than on the iPhone. Foreflight is the
only one that transfers your subscription to both devices.

I have SkyCharts Pro on both the iPhone and iPad. I only paid for it once and
it works on both..... Of course I have both the iPhone and iPad on the same account
with iTunes. In fact, my wifes iPhone has it on there also, and again
all 3 are on the same iTunes account, so you only have to pay once.....

I hope they avoid the 28th as the Young Eagles dinner is that evening
and it is quite difficult to get to both.

I had previously used SkyCharts, before Pro. So today I
re-purchased (if you purchase regular you have to re-buy to get
pro, now that they offer it)...so I had to buy pro even
though I owned standard. Not that big of a deal.
I do find that although it's nice, it is far from as complete
a program as Foreflight. Like I said before, they're all
different. WingX is the only one with a more regular GPS
screen, and it has Geo-Referenced approach charts as an option
(for what I think is an additional cost). They're all just
different but I think WingX is much clumsier to user.
Foreflight has the best layout and useability of the more
featured programs. If you just want charts, SkyCharts pro
looks to be a good choice. I actually use Foreflight probably
more for the weather and planning features than I do in-flight
though. Some of that will depend on your avionics choices.
personally, I think they're cheap enough that for a year,
if you can afford an iphone or ipad, you may as well buy all
3 and try them all. I just now got skycharts Pro, so i'll
see how that goes...doesn't seem like it is a whole lot more
filled than standard that I had before. It's download manager
isn't as nice as Foreflight. WingX's is simple, but I don't
know that it's downloading nearly the same amount of data.
Foreflight is awesome for filing flight plans, which is one
of my more common uses.
