Ours is under the co-pilot seat. Relatively good access there, if needed,
and cable run is still short.

Sorry to have missed the cookout and meeting with lots of the list. It
was great to see the few folks that were around the HQ the two times I
managed to get free. With the mass arrivals scrubbed there wasn't a lot
of interest in camping on the mud, so stayed in hotel in MSN and
commuted. That meant no evening fireside socializing. Weather and such
limited time on site to Sun, Mon and Tues, so had to hit the displays on
a run and get to the key vendors of all the expensive gizmos and chunks
of metal needed for airplane completion. Obviously John was
concentrating on the high society warbirds, so missed him. Oh,
well...another time. Was good to see the -10s that made it in.

Hmm,
RE: the fuel issue.....I don't see any carbureted models with lower than
8.5:1 except a few 235hp models with 7.2 compression. Perhaps that is
what you were referring to.
I suppose some may consider it a fuel issue, but the 4 cyl models with
8.5 compression such as the 180hp fly just fine on premium mogas, IF the
airframe has no issues and the fuel is mostly ethanol free, so don't see
any reason why 2 more cyl at same compression should change that.

Right on Kelly. I run the crap out of my O-360 in my Pitts ..... on
premium mogas. Regular works OK as long as I don't get real wild. Had
to go back to 100 Lotsa Lead because of the ethanol. Not sure if the
PS-5 carb will tolerate the ethanol which is the only weak spot (ethanol
wise) in the fuel system. All the old Aeroquip rubber hoses have been
changed to the braided teflon so no issues there.

Yep, it was a mis-speak...I meant 8.5:1

Sure wish they would finish work on the Skyview first instead of
spreading their efforts all over the place. Their lack of commitment to
get their software finished, a year after it was announced, and not
being anywhere close to AFS or GRT for a mature product would argue
against creating more product lines.

Subject: | OSH RV-10 (and friends) Cookout |
Here is a great story about Hal Morley's CJ in today's EAA news:
http://www.airventure.org/news/2010/100729_china.html
Let me apologize for the Triple Latte Starbucks and Chaisse Lounge Chairs t
hat we are using in the "High Society" warbird area. While you are all sin
ging at Camp Condrey, I am going out at 7AM tomorrow to do some aerial form
ation and combat flying. Yes, the Nanchang does have many of my mods and y
es it delayed the delivery a full 8 years. Yes, it has caused "Builder Int
eruptus" on the RV-10 but then I have had the pleasure of watching many of
you guys do a remarkably professional quality build all on your own.
Saturday Night I will also reluctantly miss the Homebuilt Awards even while
hold hopes that an RV-10 does us proud. I will be at the Warbird Awards C
eremony in pursuit of Grand Champion. The rest is just a remarkable unforg
etable Wisconsin Summer.
The bird "An American Nanchang" remains along the E-W pathway from the nort
h most Red Trolley stop. I have missed you guys up in the Snob Section. W
e will be back on display by 9AM.
