Tim Honestly, I filled the hole with clear silicone and cut it when cured to roughly match the contour. It's not a real noticeable thing when done, but I'm sure some folks agonize over it and try fancier things. Wow, I didn't know you guys up north were that caught up on technology! You've really come a long ways. I was going to just use a gob of roofing tar, but figured the shingles would give it that extra level of protection. :) I think Scott Schmidt used about 5 pieces of Hubba Bubba bubble gum, after chewing it for just the right amount of time that the flavor wasn't yet gone, but the gum was more sticky so it would last. It doubles as a bubble gum flavored air freshener. Avoid RTV or anything with silicone because of paint adhesion issues later. You'll never notice the hole on the inside even without carpet, but you'd notice it if you were up high at altitude and then got CO poisoning...
