Subject: | Re: : broken pilot step |
Thanks Mike - this one caught me by surprise. Very good thinking about the installation
of the hatch during the build. It will be fun to get the building
gear out for a change.

I agree 100% with Robin. Mcmaster seals
Are the best. The extra effort to put fit them
Correctly will make them easy to install
Will not come off and are easy to replace if
Ever needed. They also look great and make
The door opening look more finished

So you guys did initial trimming with a cutoff wheel and then the grinder metal
guide runs along the outside door edge with the tool doing the final trimming
the remaining gutter?

That's basically what I did. I used a belt sander on a lot of the cabin. I
also used a diamond cut off wheel and the grinder tool shown. This made a
consistent 1/4 or 3/16 lip for the seal to attach to. You can buy the lip
size in 3/16 or 1/4.
Personally I have a 1/4 reveal around the whole door and I feel like this is
the optimal gap for the 3/8 bulb.
