see if Stein will swap my air vents for the black anodized version and overlay
the switch labels... but this is feeling close to the finish line. The leather
cover over the panel came from Abby to match my seats... should be off to the
airport by the end of July.

Ha! After uncountable sessions sitting in the hangar making rude sounds
and stick motions, I recall getting the software update from GRT that
added synthetic vision. I drilled a hole in the side of the hangar for
the GPS antenna cable, sat down and powered it up....
Whoa!! From inside my windowless hangar I could suddenly see the runway
outside! I could also see the lake that was otherwise invisible behind
a stand of (trees aren't in the database).
Construction was halted for several more days of quiet birdman meditation.
Nice panel Jeff! I too have a tan colored panel. You might find that
replacing all the AN screws with black cap head screws will dress things
up quite a bit. Try them for both panel to airframe screws and for the
instruments. Then you may not want to add bezels is my guess. (Yep, the
black vents work well too).
I got the screws from McMaster-Carr - get the black painted stainless or
else they will rust.

My number last Sept. from Global $2300. $175K Hull !m/100K. I have 2000 hrs. TT,
300 RV10. My initial quote was $2994 for first year and first flight. I
would say you have a good set of numbers for your hours.

I just got insured recently. I started with AOPA because I had a previous relationship
with them for 10 years on a Socata.
They initially quoted me 2700. Then they called me back a couple of weeks later
and said they found a company for 2200.
I called them back the morning of my first engine start to bind the coverage and
make the payment which they accepted. I specifically told them I was starting
the engine that day and flying a week or two later.
Later that afternoon I get an email from them wanting to verify that my fly off
period was complete. I called them and reminded them that I had just told them
that morning that I hadn't flown yet.
They told me that the new company wouldn't cover the fly off period and they were
sorry for the confusion. Frustratedly, I converted back to the original policy
with AIG. Next year I'm going to shop better.
For $2700 I got 150k w/1mil no deduct.
Coverage from first flight. No dual or checkout required.
23K TT
2500 HP piston
Air carrier currency
ATP CFII/MEI
6 hours RV time (giving BFR's)
