Does anyone know about these. I would be interested in being able to access tire valve stems simply and easily. Cheers Les Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=426264#426264 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 07:53:14 PM PST US From: Linn Walters Subject: Re: RV10-List: Access to tire vale stems Do yourself a favor and convert you wheels to take 90 degree valve stems. Use a valve stem extender sold in truck tire stores through a small hole in the wheel pant to air up the tire. To make it easy to line up the stem/hole paint a white stripe vertically on the inside of the tire ..... you can see the stripe when you're handling the tow bar. Cirrus sells a 2" plug that will fit the hole. You have to leave the valve cover off, but you can easily add air. You can buy the same thing at the local hardware store for about a quarter per wheel. I also painted a mark on the tire when the valve stem is aligned with the hole. The system works well, except its a PITA if you are by yourself. It's impossible to see the marks on the tires while holding the tow bar. But, unless your tubes leak badly, you really ought to be looking at brakes, wheels, etc., about as often as your tubes need air. -------- Bob Turner RV-10 QB Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=426269#426269 ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 11:09:42 PM PST US From: Tim Olson Subject: Re: RV10-List: Re: Access to tire vale stems That's been my standard reply to this for years too. I personally don't need the added temptation to SKIP taking the fairings off, because I know I'd succumb. I generally only have to take them off in spring and fall, with the leak guard tubes, and I think brake pads deserve inspection more often than that.
