My tape is under the top skin as many above.
The only things I can add are...
While flaps are down in the hangar, before every flight from home, clean and wax
flap top leading edges where they contact tape. Clean tape too.
When landing on a wet grass strip like Triple Tree (SC00), do not retract muddy
flaps past halfway until you shut down. Then clean them and the tape.
