I fall into that later category. I went with WingX because of their suppo rt for integration with my Navwork adsb. For those of us with android devices there is Avare ..... and the cost is reasonable. How does 'free' sound? It does everything my AnyWhereMap does with the exception of GLS approaches. It's my backup since I have lifetime IFR/VFR subscriptions with AWM. It's written by volunteers and will always be free ..... no 30 day trial periods!!! Hi I wish ADSB was an option for me but it is not available in Canada. I am left with XM weather (which I am told is becoming less and less popular in the US) which is quite spendy for wx info. I have dual AFS 45500 EFIS screens which I really like. Unfortunately they do not have GEOREF'd approach plates, or even just approach plates, for Canada. It doesn't sound like that will change. Although they have support for XM weather it is only for the US data. The Canadian XM weather does not display on their screens. I am hopeful that this will change but it sounds like Canada is a small market for them. The cost of Jepp data for my 430 WAAS is quite high but I have no choice if I am to stay legal (and safe!) when IFR. That being said, it seems strange that I would pay for IPAD based plates & charts when they are free from many sources. So far I am not aware of anything material that FltPlan GO can't do that I would need. At present I am working on getting XM weather to display on my IPAD. I would prefer, however, that it display on my EFIS but that is not an option in Canada. Cheers Les Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=443489#443489

Like you I am Canadian and even though a large percentage of my flying is done in the US I need Canadian Plates and maps. I prefer FltPlan Go over Foreflight for a number of reasons 1. They Offer geo-referenced approach plates for Canada. 2. The can file Intl. (ICAO) cross border flight plans. 3. Multiple ADSB receiver compatibility (Sky Radar DX, which I use) 4. A record is kept of your WX self brief. 5. A complete down-loadable Canadian Flight supplement (CFS) 6. Oh yes, it is completely free of charge. 7. Is available on the Android platform as well as the iPad. I have used FltPlan Go on an iPad Mini since it came out and seen it develop into the user friendly EFB it is today. I also have it on my Samsung S4 smart phone which is always with me and can easily function as a backup Even though Foreflight do have some nice features not available at present on FltPlan Go they don't have any of the above features all of which are important, to me anyway. -------- Ivan Kristensen. www.ivankristensen.com Builder # 40838 Flying (430hrs.) I just replaced my dampers after 1400 hrs over 8 years. My spinner had drooped about 1/4" below the cowl and I had an unresolved buzz. The spinner is now flush with the top of the cowl and the buzz is reduced. The old mounts definitely deformed. They had about a 1/8"-1/4" offset once removed. I shopped around and found Van's price much less than anywhere else. Sorry I don't recall the number. I think I found it in the archives. --Dave On Sunday, June 14, 2015, David <dlm34077@cox.net> wrote: > Anyone know the service life of these? Years or hours? > I have added a 680 on the firewall as aux battery for the avionics. This allows powering the avionics separately from the starting battery until the engine is running. Then the alternator recharges the starting battery and trickle charges the avionics battery on the firewall. The firewall battery is insulated and is used to improve W&B characteristics Just wondering if the starting battery is a 680 also, that's what I'm considering doing and wondered about its starting capacity in this configuration or do you have option for joining the two batteries? ...Also from PC680 info website- The PC680MJT (MJ=Metal Jacket), means the battery is housed in a metal jacket. This enables the battery withstand higher ambient temperatures. The PC680MJ is rated to withstand temperatures of 176 degrees Fahrenheit vs. the standard PC680 is rated at 140 degrees Fahrenheit. I will be adding a Y off the rear baffle to direct air on the firewall battery and air shutter while reducing hot air to tunnel area. Although this won't help shutdown temps the metal jacket and other insulation should assist with that. -------- Dave Ford RV6 for sale RV10 building Cadillac, MI Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=443525#443525

I've noticed some have straight/angled antenna on top near vert stab, is this off centered or drilled through top stringer? Not sure how to go about that? If directly centered and 1/2" hole for bnc does that compromise strength of stringer ( maybe not)? Also how to install a doubler in that area? -------- Dave Ford RV6 for sale RV10 building Cadillac, MI Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=443532#443532

Recommend that you not try to center it, but use the stiffener already present with a doubler or add stiffener to doubler. No one will notice that you are a 1/4" off center. On the other hand I have had good performance from belly antennas, even when on the ground. I know from my 6 with two belly antennae I get marginal coverage on the ground but great air coverage; also I'm considering future belly pod. -------- Dave Ford RV6 for sale RV10 building Cadillac, MI Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=443538#443538
