I would concur with Bill. When I started my build nine or so years ago, t he photos were a great reference source for a newbie builder. They certain ly helped me make decisions and to build a better RV-10. I certainly understand the amount of work to maintain the site and that your interest is more about flying than keeping the site active. I've not kept my build site active either once I started flying. Any chance that we'll see you at OSH this year? Since I am about to mount my windshield I have been running through the timing of the steps in my head and need a little clarification if you guys can. How long can I leave the bare aluminum after etching before applying the fiberglass? I figure I need to etch before gluing the windshield to the cabin top and I need to wait for this to cure prior to starting my layups. Also, is it advisable to apply Alodine 1201 after the Alumiprep? Thanks again! Shannon Hicks

Shannon- Yes, you should apply Alodine after the alumniprep. After that your only real concern would be surface contamination, so as long as the surface stays clean you have essentially as much time as you need. Cover the treated area to keep contaminants off the aluminum then degrease with acetone, etc., just before you apply resin and you should be fine. --Dave On Monday, July 6, 2015, Shannon Hicks <civeng123@gmail.com> wrote: > Since I am about to mount my windshield I have been running through the > timing of the steps in my head and need a little clarification if you guys > can. > > How long can I leave the bare aluminum after etching before applying the > fiberglass?
