Does anyone have a digital copy of the FAB plans? I've misplaced mine and have
a couple of items to finish off before wrapping it up.
Thanks,
Phil

Might as well reinforce the bottom now to prevent the filter from
wearing thru the fiberglass as well.

I fabd a metal plate for the bottom then use 2 long AN3 bolts to hold it to the
flange of the induction unit. Works very well!!!

Yep - proseal in a piece of .032" aluminum and then sandwich the fiberglass
between the alt air door and this piece of aluminum. Add four simple
brackets to prevent the filter from becoming conical. Another option is to
flip the top plate over an use the larger K&N E-1000 filter. Photos
attached.

Hi Phillip,
Do you have any other picture for the installation of the FAB?
I'm not sure, from the instructions, how to install the foam block to the
cowling.
Regards, Ron

Attached is a full scale PDF of the aluminum plate I glued in the bottom as
Phil and others did. Works great.
Glued in with Tank seal/ Proseal.

Hi Ron,
I checked and don't have any photos of my foam block exercise. However if you
google RV-10 Filtered Air Box, you will find a number of hits.
The foam block is shaped somewhat like a brick and is oriented so you're tunneling
through the fat side of the brick; if you can visualize that.
You just have to shape the outside corners enough to wedge it into the nose of
snorkel. I used epoxy to hold it into position, but wish I had used something
more forgiving. I have a couple of clumps of epoxy way down there that I'll
probably never remove. Using an adhesive would make it cleaner and just as easy.
I plugged the intake of the induction system with a rag to avoid the foam shavings
from finding its way downstream.
I also used a vacuum to suck out foam shavings as I was digging.
Glassing it was easy. I removed some of the gel coat so I could get a good bond,
then pre-loaded my fabric with epoxy and stuck it in position.
I didn't need a balloon to hold it like some of the photos show. I just checked
in on it every 30 minutes or so to make sure it wasn't slumping and to adjust
it if needed.
It looked really good at the end of everything. The worst part was getting the
foam block shaped enough to get it fit the cowling and then digging it back out.
(Though the adhesive would make that much easier.)
