Subject: | Re: Slick Mag 1100 hrs. |
So on the topic of these Mag drive bushings...
I ordered 3 sets of them to keep on hand. They were cheap.
But, I think there is an issue with my order.
I am pretty sure my old bushings did NOT have the tangs out the side.
The old bushings were the LW13641 type then, because the new
drive gear is p/n LW-13899 and the new cushions are
p/n 68H22624, and if you read SI 1299B, it shows a picture
of the new ones having tangs on them.
Attached is a photo of what I received. Yes, mine were not
"lycoming" branded, but sold by Continental (previously ECI),
and are aftermarket. But they came with the tangs. So I can
only assume that they are shipping the incorrect (new) part
under the old part number. Even the baggie they came in has
the old p/n.
Does this sound correct to any of you that are in the know?

Tim,
I had to cut the tangs off my new cushions. Once cut, they are exactly the s
ame as the old cushions and fit perfect.
I have forwarded my initial conversation with Lycoming but did not continue t
he inquiry once I saw that I can modify the new part to fit my mag drive.
You might contact them if you feel that the modified cushions are not approp
riate. I did not feel replacing the my mag drives for new mag drives was nec
essary.
Do not archive.

It looks like you may not have gotten the correct software loaded onto
your SD card that is in the Raspberry PI. Take a look at the following
links to see if they can help.

Changed the subject!!!
Thanks for the links! As I read it, the Pi GPS is only needed if your
device does not have one. Not a problem for most folks.
I took the receiver cases off, used a piece of credit card as a
separator and used one top half and one lower half .... and used metal
tape to keep them together. Leave enough 'open area' for the heat to
escape.
I've been in electronics all my working life and I wouldn't think of
soldering wires to the 40 pin connector.
You can get a short cable at Amazon http://tinyurl.com/q4kqwn2 and cut
off the male connector.

Thanks a ton Rob! That was one of my big questions...was the size
right if I cut the tangs off. It's funny that they didn't make
a mention of that to you in the correspondence but if the fit
with the tang removed is the same, it would make sense that it
would work just fine. As long as the rest of that part is
physically the same, I'll be happy. It just caught me off
guard that I ordered the old number and got the new style.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's had that happen...and you
even got yours from Lycoming.
