Just returned from a wonderful trip in Baja Mexico with the Flying Samaritans.
In the mix of a wide variety of different aircraft types in hot, heavy, short
strip service, the -10 proved herself well drawing lots of praise and comments
in the process
One favorite moment was departing Guaymas for the gulf crossing to Mulege two minutes
after a companion very nice late model C182T (long considered an ideal
Baja airplane).
I had more fuel aboard and one more person than he had and not only did I use less
runway, but when I passed him, he was going through 4500 as I was going through
6500. It was only a half hour
Flight but I was unloaded and tied down when he arrived. I also had the privilege
of dusting a Mooney on another leg of the same trip. I did get passed on one
leg by a cocky 310, but he went quiet when we compared fuel flows and I happened
to mention the air conditioning we were enjoying. When we all met up at
the Hotel Serenidad, some serious trash was talked that night my friends.
