It turns out my narrow deck IO-540 parts manual and Lycoming overhaul
manual are out of date, and it appears Lycoming won't sell them
individually. Does anybody know of a pdf or hard copy source, or does
anybody have a pdf to share?
I'm looking for:
- IO-540 narrow deck parts manual, PC-215-1A, revision dated Aug 2010
- Overhaul Manual, 60294-7-14, revision dated Jul 2011.

If you locate a PDF copy I would be interested as well. I checked mine and they
are both older copies as well...

As I sent in PM to Tim, I have a 1993 version of the parts manual. I
thought I had received a newer version of the OH manual, but can only
find the 1974 version right now.
AFAIK, most of the revisions to the OH manual are incorporation of some
of the 1000 or so service bulletins.

I did find a copy of the OH manual with revisions through 2002, but I
think there were some more revisions about 10 yrs ago. It is also rather
large, at 70 Mb.

Thanks everyone for the help with break model numbers during my travel.
Best I can tell, the left caliper jammed during taxi. I could feel a wheel u
nbalanced condition while taxing as I sometimes notice during landing, under
certain loading conditions and the right speed. So I ignored it. There wa
s no indication of the plane dragging at all but it was a windy day and it i
s possible I was actually correcting for the jammed break and not the wind.
Although not enough correction to be noticeable to me.
By the time I taxied to the departure point and stopped, the piston's o ring
failed and fire started but I could only see white smoke. The heat bubbled
the wheel pant paint and caused minor damage to the fiberglass. Having su
ch tight wheel pants helped keep the flame from spreading and it extinguishe
d itself in a few minutes, sooner than I could get over my shock and get the
fire extinguisher from the plane.
