Subject: | Landing Gear problems |
After a 2 yearlong battle, trying whatever solution I could think of or
find on the internet, I surrendered and did the obvious, put some
dampers
on.
It feels strange to land and wait for the big shake, both wheels dancing
synchronized back and forward https://youtu.be/p0zAVvPMCIg, and nothing
happens.
The whole ground operation feels so much better and stable.
Two gas springs dampers for less than 120$ did the trick.
Stumbled over another method that works 75%, put =BD a gallon of water
in the
rear compartment of the wheel fairing.
Does little for light vibrations but sure does cure the big shakeouts by
counter phase movement of the water.
All other things such as: tire pressure , balancing, rotating tires, new
tires, reinforcement of the legs, adjusting camber- toe angle by
elongating
cross holes, where tried in every amount and combination with only
temporarily small improvements.
I still do not understand why the problem did start after two years of
flying and not @ the beginning.
Somehow over time there was a loss of damping in the system.
Now I finally can ship several parts of my avionics that did not survive
the
shaking for repair and modify the gear leg fairings.

Hey Bart,
Nice. Were brakes ruled out as a factor? Warped rotors, dragging pads?

Looks like they are mounted to damp up and down motion. I always thought
the shimmy motion was fore and aft.
