Hi I have had a few PMs asking for pix of my wing root fuel filters. See the pix below. Also, here is a link to the filters I used: https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/ear-230206erl/overview/ There is one in each wing root so that there is redundancy. Also, as the filters are light, I didn't tie them off to anything else. They seem quite happy inline with the -6 al tubing. Cheers Les C-GCWZ flying C-GROK some assembly required. Hi The vibration question is one that I considered. The filter is very light and so weight is not really a factor. The bends in the tubing allow movement so that should be okay. Between the B-Nut / filter / B-Nut there is nothing for vibration to affect. I don't really see how the filter is that much different from an install without the filter. At least from a vibration perspective. Cheers Les C-GCWZ flying C-GROK some assembly required Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=470013#470013

My filter is in the tunnel, plumbed and sealed. There hasn't been any fuel or contamination in it (still building). I don't think it's wise to remove it and possibly alter the integrity of the system. I'll just add the filters in the wing root and know I have a second filter for fuel to pass through. Thanks all, we've had a pretty busy streak for over a year now, not slowing d own much from finishing the RV 14, and then rolling right into all sorts of f light training. We haven't really even done any vacations to speak of even f or this time period. But now Danielle is flying, and it's time to start slow ing down a little and enjoying the time. We're about to head out on a vacat ion where she can do a whole lot of the piloting. Between her and Andrea, I d on't know that I'll even have a chance to fly the airplane. Not that I'd be disappointed in that, because I really enjoy seeing someone else learn and b ecome competent. The local newspaper decided to do the article, but I'm really surprised, I d idn't realize that it would be picked up on the AP by any other news outlets . That really surprised me. There is one thing else coming down the road th at should be interesting, and that is I believe there may be a similar artic le in the magazine "Aviation for girls", which is put out by the women in av iation organization. I really believe that one of the biggest problems that we face as pilots is a lack of new pilot starts coming into our activity. S o I will do anything I can to show that Aviation is fun. What makes it even m ore fun is that it is a girl doing this. Maybe that sound sexist, but we nee d everybody to think that they may enjoy flying airplanes, not just men like 95% of us. I really think that the biggest problem that we face in getting new pilots is a lack of passion, of course along with the lack of money, bu t I think we can fix the passion part easy enough. We just need to get peopl e to put down their phones, tablets, and game consoles long enough to go out and see what is in the world. Hoping to see lots of you a OSH again this year! Albert You are quite right about the original location and the filters being attached to the floor. All I can say is the filters / location / setup works for me. The tunnel location is difficult to access while the roots are easy to access. That makes more frequent checks / cleaning easier and therefore (IMHO) more likely. Obviously I like my setup, otherwise I wouldn't do it this way. Others may not.
