I've attached a picture approximating my installation (thanks to Brian and Brandi for the image). Despite the metal to metal contact of the button latch, pressure and vibration has slowly worn thru the thin piece of steel I had inserted into the edge of the hatch to bear on the latch. It hasn't completely failed yet but will shortly. Working on a new hold down method. (I know from previous experience that a open hatch will remain open but in place while in flight). The hatch, despite double skinning and all, was never stiff enough to maintain a good fit in flight. There's a lot of air pressure trying to push it out. May work on a short term and a longer term fix. Just FYI folks.
