Hartzell has noted that grease zerks are sometimes seizing (and
breaking) when they are removed for the hub grease process. This 2016
Service Instruction introduces a plug to replace the zerk that is
removed every year (one plug per side).

Hartzell's 2018 price sheet lists them as $0.74 each. I've not tried to
order them myself - I bought a couple from a local A&P who had ordered
several.

Curious. I can't imagine why the zerks would seize, given they are threaded
back into grease, except for the person doing the servicing using their
calibrated elbow for a torque wrench. Never had a problem with the zerks in
the 18 years I had a Hartzell prop.
Also tend to believe that those zerks and plugs are standard FAA/PMA
Autozone parts. Not sure why the plugs would be any less likely to seize,
unless they are made of a metal compatible with the forged aluminum of the
prop hub. Maybe I should do a little experimenting with a red tag Hartzell
hub I use as a big paperweight.

Well, these parts are a bargain. I see they want $40 for a blank logbook!
