As you can see, it is not significantly larger than my old Flightline cover. (I should have put the old one next to it in the photo) The bag is easily big enough for two lightweight covers and I suspect it's the same bag they use for the heavy cover. The cover and the bag are a very robust material. The workmanship and hardware are excellent. I've had it for a couple of years now and use it whenever we travel. I am a real fan of Flightline and Abby has always been wonderful to work with. But, I think this travel cover is well worth the extra $. -------- David Maib RV-10 #40559 New Smyrna Beach, FL Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=495546#495546 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/img_1627_265.jpeg http://forums.matronics.com//files/img_1626_113.jpeg http://forums.matronics.com//files/img_1625_201.jpeg http://forums.matronics.com//files/img_1624_198.jpeg http://forums.matronics.com//files/img_1623_923.jpeg ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 08:40:55 AM PST US Subject: Re: RV10-List: Re: RV-10 Cover From: Tim Olson It does look real nice. Great pics! It's good that they finally have a travel cover. Their big one looks nice too but I'd never have room to travel with it, and this one looks to really be about the same size as Flightlines. I take my little one with me on most any trip away from home. Tim On 4/2/2020 9:36 AM, dmaib@me.com wrote: > > I took these pics of my Bruces Lightweight Travel Cover at the airport yesterday. My recommendation would be to find some one who has sold their 10, etc. or work with some one who has built a 10 and has the tools on hand. Have you got an EAA Chapter close? We have built (2) 10's and have a U206 that always seems to need some fiberglass or sheet metal work as well as routine maintenance. if you can't find some used tools, shop around for bargains. A lot of our tools were from Harbor Freight (i.e. air compressor, hoses, hand tools, tin snips, right angle grinders, jacks, etc.). Specific riveting tools you'll have to get from some aircraft tool supplier like Avery Tools. Epoxy, fiber glass, extra rivets, nut plates, etc. from Aircraft Spruce. Some things you will have to get from Vans. Thermal shields from Wicks Aircraft. Instruments, wiring and navigation lights are a separate investment. Shop around for these. I spent About 5K in total 7-8 yrs ago for the tools to build the 1st 10. Good luck. It is a rewarding endeavor when it is done. So I have the heated Garmin in my RV-14 and it works great. I'd buy one in a heartbeat for my RV-10 if my Gretz even hiccups. It does use the same mount, I think. I don't remember buying the mount for the -14 but it was the same mount I used on the 10, which was the Gretz. I found a complete Gretz unit on VAF and bought it for a great price. Troubleshooting pointed to the board, so I installed it and it worked great for a few months. Then it failed again, so I bought the Garmin, installed it in the Gretz mount, and all is well. The Gretz served me well for about 10 years of constant use. I could never get any response from Angus Aviation, so it was time to move on.
