Guys: It is no problem to remove the fuel tang sender with the wing attached. I would recommend replacing the rubber gasket with a cork or similar gasket when replacing the sender as the original rubber gaskets squash out with time and leak. Use a pager punch to make the screw holes in the new gasket. Do not seal with silicone as it is not gas proof. Use the gray colored 2-part tank sealer recommended by Vans if you want extra sealer. I used a Viton gasket and sealing screws with Viton orings from McMaster (link below), without any tank sealant. That was in 2014. Both senders have been leak free since then. It=99s more serviceable this way if something goes wrong with the sender. https://www.mcmaster.com/sealing-screws/sealing-rounded-head-screws/system -of-measurement~inch/o-ring-material~fluoroelastomer-rubber/thread-type~un f/ <https://www.mcmaster.com/sealing-screws/sealing-rounded-head-screws/syste m-of-measurement~inch/o-ring-material~fluoroelastomer-rubber/thread-type~u nf/> Lenny > On Jun 19, 2020, at 9:19 AM, Doc <docclv@windstream.net> wrote: > > > Guys: It is no problem to remove the fuel tang sender with the wing attached. I have been using the rubber gasket with no sealant for almost 12 years. I put some fuel lube on the gasket and have never had leaks. I changed to the Viton gasket and sealing screws with viton o-rings after reading Lenny's post about that a few years ago. Works great and still no leaks. I have had to change senders a couple of times over the years and it is not a difficult job. -------- David Maib RV-10 #40559 New Smyrna Beach, FL Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=496952#496952

Now that my RV-10 has been banished to the outdoors for the foreseeable future I broke down and ordered the gust lock from Anti-splat. It does well with the elevator, fair with the rudders but only adequate with the ailerons. I was wondering what experience anyone has with how much tension to put on the rudder cables? Ive got it pushed pretty hard and dont want to overdo it but realize I may need to extend the rod by another hole or two if it want case unnecessary stress. Thanks, Marcus Just rolled over 1,000 hours

Did you make the big viton gasket from a sheet?
