A working solution was to buy a Carlyle Socket Spark Plug SAE 7/8 in Part # CHT SSP3828 from NAPA and have a machinist lathe out the barrel to .774 in (so the 206's Champion RHB32E plug which has a greater diameter stem than the RV10's REM38E would fit in the barrel) and Mill 3/8 in off the bottom end to shorten it to 3 1/8 in. The plug cost $8.49 and my machinist charged me $20.00. It does not have a built in magnet but it fits all 7/8 in plugs and is as short as any 3/8 drive spark plug socket. It has a 7/8 in hex drive at the top which can be torqued with a 3/8 in drive 7/8 in Flare Nut Crowfoot Wrench (Sunex Tools 970818 $3.83 plus shipping) without removing engine baffling. More useful than Aircraft Spruce's # 12-01693 which is 3 1/2 long. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 02:26:53 PM PST US From: Don McDonald Subject: Re: RV10-List: Spark Plug Socket I use a boxend wrench on some... works fine.
