I ordered a RV-12 wing kit on April 8. I need to buy some tools now so
that I can start working on the wing kit when it arrives. Someone
recommended buying a rivet puller from Harbor Freight. I see 3 of them
on their website: ITEM 93458-9VGA $34.99, ITEM 95173-3VGA $32.99, and
ITEM 167-0VGA $49.99. Which one is the best? Or is there one from a
different source that you recommend? Are there any other specialized
tools that I should order now?
Thanks, Joe

Joe, I've bought a lot of tools from HFT over the years and my philosophy is
that they are expendable tooling. Often I buy them for a single job and put
them in as part of the job cost. If they last longer, great, but I don't buy
them considering that. If the job is critical, I buy two and return the
second if I don't use it. You're going to be using that puller a long time,
buy a good one. The low cost at HFT won't mean much if you lose a week of
build time because you have to budget for a new one. My 2 cents.

Jim Cone's RV-12 project photos are at www.vansairforce.net in the RV-12
forum. Jim's kit is the only one that I know of that is in progress.

Thanks for the input Rick. What brand and model rivet puller do you recommend?
And where is a good place to buy? I will probably need a hand powered one too
for hard to reach places.
