Thanks to Matt for setting up an RV-14 email list. Those of you
on this list (maybe very few at this point) who know me, know
that I prefer email based lists...the messages pop into
your inbox where you can address them quickly. It makes for
a speedy way to pass along info.
I'm builder 140032, and got my kit 12/21/2012. So far I'm done
with section 11 and 1/2 way through 12 almost. I find that the
RV-14 plans in some cases so far, are perhaps a little more
vague than the RV-10, although the kit itself has some nice
little improvements. In the section on countersinking the spar
in section 11, they do show the max depth and width of the
countersinks you create, but, they don't go into detail as to
what the ultimate goal of the countersunk hole will be. In the
-10 plans they have you test dimple a scrap of aluminum so that
you get the depth to a workable depth for assembly later.
Anyway, it does take a little interpreting and reading ahead
if you're a 1st time builder. I have a website regarding
my RV-10 at http://www.MyRV10.com, and although I still update
it, it won't be changing drastically in the future. I also
have one set up for the RV-14 at http://www.MyRV14.com that
I will use to document the build, but I will not be spending
nearly the time writing as I did on the other plane. I probably
have as much time into writing as building on that kit.
I did have one plans correction I found, and Van's has already
changed it on their plans, but it somehow didn't make it into
my plans when they shipped just a few weeks ago. On page 11-03
the "AFT / UP / Inboard" label was wrong in 2 diagrams, but
they have it changed now to "FWD / UP / Inboard", so they were
already on it. I'm sure we'll find more changes as we go
through the build.
I just wanted to make a quick introduction and let anyone
else who signed on the list know that I'll be monitoring
the list, so email here when you run into questions or issues.

Hi Tim, can't wait to see your progress.
Anyone else wish there was a 540 option?
