Brock,
well at least you survived and you have probably learned heaps as a result.
A friend here in Australia is also lucky as well, during the 50's he was in
the
RAF and posted to the middle east somewhere, while flying from one sandy
hell hole to another he was a passenger looking out the window and noticed
something odd with the spinner on the front of one of the port engines, he
thought
about it for a while and went and tapped the pilot on the shoulder and
pointed out
the window to the port engine spinner.
The pilot went grey and said lots of interesting words, pulled the power off
and
landed ASAP, as it turned out a number of that type of aircraft had crashed
and
the cause was a mystery for a fair while, no one survived to tell the
tale.......no one!
The RAF had kept this all under wraps for years, turns out the spinners
failed taking
out the prop sufficiently to cause massive imbalance, by then its all over,
engine
tears wing apart.
The guys name is Dave Burman, lives in Berry, South Coast NSW Australia,
he's one real interesting guy to talk to.
Cheers
Bruce
