How does the 51% rule work when you buy somebody else project?

If you get the previous builder's logs and photos, you should not have a
      problem getting it certified.
However, you may have a problem getting the Repairman's cert. If you buy
a nearly complete project I doubt that you'll be able to convince the
inspector that you have the nessecary skills to warrant a Repairman's
      cert for the plane.

No big deal if you have an A&P that can do the annual condition
      inspection for you.

Once the project meets the "over 50% rule" then it doesn't matter how many
builders there are nor how much each builds. You can even get your "limited
Repairman's Certificate" if you can demonstrate that you know how to build
the airplane. Teachers have done this when their students did ALL the work.

The 51% rule applies to the kit, not who is building it. Nor how many
      have/are building the kit.

Who the FAA allows to get the aircraft repairmen certificate is affected by
how many people have/are working on the project.
