Dear RV Builders:
For those of you that have built an older RV can you tell me if you have
had any problems with the hole in the spar for the wing tie down; like
cracking? I had a friend of mine come check my work although not an RV
builder he is
a AP and works on much bigger aircraft. He was concerned about the hole in
the
spar flange.
What do you think? http://www.angelfire.com/mech/rv-3/pics.html

With me its a non issue, my 3 has almost 2000 hrs and 25 yrs, with a lot of aerobatics,
but I'll defer to those that have put some REAL time on theirs. Had
a wing skin off to do the spar mod and had no structural issues to deal with.

Thanks John that's what I wanted to hear. I also called Vans after I posted
my message and they said its a non factor the flange is there to fasten the
skin not carry the load.
