Randy,
The RV3 gross weights are for aerobatic factors (+6 / -3). I think you could
use a higher gross for non-aerobatic flight (especially in the States where
you can choose your own gross wt ??)
The original RV3 was 1050 lbs with 24 gals fuselage fuel. I think the 1100
lbs refers to a -3 with 30 gals wing fuel.
As far as the wing spar is concerned, I suppose the max gross usable for
Utility factors would be roughly 1100 x 6 / 4.4 = 1500, but there's more to
it than that (gear strength for example). I believe some use around 1250
lbs. I've tried Van's for advice on this, but with no luck. Perhaps you
could ask them as you're local, and let us all know!

I bought a flying RV3 with a listed GW of 1175, with an empty weight of 790.
Just finished the conversion to the 3B wing (quickbuild). Haven't flown
much in the past 6 weeks (business travel and trying to track down an oil
leak).
My "3" has an O320-E2D and Catto 3-blade.
Would like to participate in a "registry".
Located North of San Francisco.

How did the wing conversion go? Does it turn out to be major surgery or is
