I have vague memories of encountering this problem years ago when I was
finishing my RV-3.
My recall ordering a "standard" set of Lord of Lord mounts from
somewhere and being puzzled when they simply would not fit. I contacted
Vans and they said that some (perhaps it was all) RV-3 dynafocal mounts
were made using "small" size cup holders for the engine mounts. I
eventually located a set that worked - I think the usual application
was for a Piper Tri-Pacer or similar aircraft. I wish I could be more
precise but it is getting on to 15 years ago that I was shopping for
engine mounts.
Measure your your mount and ask for "small" size engine mounts would be
the best advice I think. Vans might be able to point you at the right
size mount as well.
