Got these parts the other week - they are moulded one-piece with a very
smooth finish, wrapping around the leading edge, with the trailing edge
open to be secured with piano hinge. I would think they will be much
easier to fit than the previous model.
On another topic, what type of fitting did you all use to run the the
main battery cable through the firewall to the starter ?; whereabouts on
the firewall did you make the opening?

I just found out that Van's is now using fiberglass gear leg fairing
instead
of the aluminum ones that came with my older kit. I'm wondering if they
are
molded top and bottom and how they are attached to the leg and pants. I
have
the two piece wheel pants and aluminum "V" shaped piece that would take
a lot of
work to fit and fair. Has anyone used these on an RV4? Just about ready
to
tackle this job but if there is a better way, I'm all ears. Thanks for
your help.

Hi Marshall;
I don't have any starter wires going through the firewall, I mounted my small
Odyessy battery in front of the firewall. It's located on the right top side
of the "shelf/rudder pedal recess" underneath the cowling. I needed the weight
up front with my lightweight composite prop and I made my battery "hole" in the
cockpit into a storage compartment with a hinged door on top.
If I did rout it through the firewall I would use the Cessna method with a fixed
grommet around the hole and conduit around the wire. Good Luck...
