I have an email into IVO as we speak. The engine on my -4 is an O-320-E2D.
BTW, do you keep your RV-3 in CMA? I believe I may have met you a couple
years back during a CMA airshow.
Did you have any speed restrictions with the Ivo? Did you stick by the
Service Bulletin torque requirements?

Any problems with the gelcoat cracking on the IVO? I also heard IVO isn't selling
any more big engine (greater than 100hp) propellers? Wassup?

I did the original flight test for the Ivoprop Magnum inflight adjustable
propeller.
I flew about 20 different sets of blades for my Ivoprop Magnum inflight
adjustable propeller. I worn out two sets of bolts with all of the changes and
inspections.
(Initially, I had to disassemble and inspect the blades after each hour of
flight.)
About May 1996, Ivo figured out what it took to properly retain the blades in
the hub.
I did follow the torquing schedule and requirements. It is probably why I
never had any of the blades start the progressive failure mode after May 1996.
The stainless steel tape across the blades provides the first warning, before
any damage occurs to the blades.
I had not broken a single tape since May 1996.
I did get a replacement set of blades in Aug. 1997. I had removed the
stainless steel leading edge tape and painted the blades maroon with some "super"
paint. It didn't work that well in the rain.
The stainless steel leading edge tape works fine. And it is fairly easy to
replace if it gets damaged by sand or pebbles.
I preferred to fly with the Ivoprop, rather than my Warnke fixed pitch prop.
The performance was better with the Ivoprop, overall.
I have a MT Propeller electric CS propeller now. The electric governor works
great.
It appears to perform better than the Warnke and the Ivoprop. However, I
still need to move the CG back to the original position before I can get good
numbers.
(The CG shifted forward when I changed from a 28 volt system to a 12 volt
system.)
I normally cruise at around 160 mph tias. This works even at 17,500' without
the supercharger engaged. Full throttle at 4,000' density altitude gives me
a little over 200 mph. This is about the same as with the 2 blade Ivoprop
Magnum propeller.
