I had an 8th grade teacher, who when profanity was used at school used to say 
"people use profanity because they lack the intelligence to express 
themselves in any other way."

I am now 66 and have never forgotten that lesson.  That said, sometimes 
nothing else seems to convey the message.  I don't think the reason for the message

being referred to is such a case however,
