Go for it Ed. I'm still building my now ten year old RV-4 project. (Plans
#3001) Now that my fuselage is done my attitude and enthusiasm has perked
up considerably. It took me ten years to cross the sheet metal fabrication
desert. My camel is now full of water and ready to finish the journey! I'm
really enjoying working on the "systems" instead of the sheet metal.
Besides, now that my wife and kids look out into the shop and see a real
airplane perched there, they stopped whining about my time spend on the
project. They will be flying soon too! When my wife had one of her
triathlon friends over she even said, "Let me show you the airplane we are
building in the shop." She used the word "we" for the first time.

As it happens, I've always thought of building an RV4, dang if work doesn't

come first and keps me busier than a one legged man in a three legged race.
I joined the list to see how others were coming on their projects, and have

come to assume the same thing you mentioned...they must have finished and
      went
      flying.

      Hi RV4 People,
I bought the RV4 plans around 1990 and tail kit June 1995(Got the kit!) I am
now ready to take it to LBB (airport). I have a t-hangar there and a friend
is working on his trailer so a RV4 will fit. I have followed the RV and RV4
list for years. It is all painted and the Lubbock Central Appraisal District
has it on the books at $295,000 dollars. A/C for personal use are not taxed
here. Thank God! Right now it is assembled up to the wings. The tail is 10
inches wider than the garage door. But I think I have that solved. I have a
lot of people to thank on the list and here in Lubbock. Been a great ten
years. I hope to fly it before my 75th birthday in August. RV4's for ever!
      Best regards,
      Bruce Bell

      Alright, fine, I'll chime in.

NO, I'm NOT flying, and NO I'm NOT building either because I moved to WA and I
have no hangar space (argh!!!). Some might say I'm a little disgruntled about
it as well. Well, let's call it 'frustrated'.

So, consider this a solicitation for hangar/garage space up here in the beautiful--albeit
damp--PNW. Down at CMA in SoCal, I had the luxury of a fantastic EAA
Chapter (#723) who rented hangar space for me to build. If I can find somewhere
to build, then I shall no longer be disgruntled. I will be just plain gruntled.
Or is that un-disgruntled?....regruntled?....oh my head hurts!

The only thing worse than building and being jealous of those flying, is NOT building
and being jealous of those who are building!

Meanwhile, I do enjoy the honor of flying aboard wings of Lockheed! (Just a little
slower than 'Smokey's' Falcon, but twice the number of engines...and I can
      back-up!)

      Hi Ed,

Good to see another who's migrating from Luscombe to RV.

I monitor this list, but only to be sure I don't miss something. I
suspect that after the flurry of list-division a few years ago, most
discovered that life is a lot simpler if you just monitor & post to the
      main RV-list.

      Rick;
I think I have one better (Or is that worse?) . I have our RV-4 , with 61
hours sitting in our hangar here on our farm. I haven't been able to get the

FAA to send me a medical. I haven't flown it for a year, and it looks like
      my flying is over.
Well : I had a good bunch of years flying but I sure would like to put more
      hours on the RV-4 !!!

      Hi Charlie,
Not sure when I'll start on an RV, just finishing the restoration of a
Luscombe with the 150hp upgrade and have two more waiting to get in the shop.
I'm guessing I haven't learned how to best divide my time between customers
      and personal planes yet.
