It shares the space with my electronic ignition circuitboard on the other side, highly recommended as well. The odyssey works great in the 350 degree air, holds a charge for a long time and shortened the starter and ground wires over 2 feet. It reduced the empty weight of my airplane 16 lbs and shifted my CG slightly forward, a home run across the board. It also created a forward baggage area where the heavy battery used to be, I simply put a forward hinge on the cover and voila' big glove box. It holds my chocks, tiedowns, tool bag, small girlfriend etc...You can't miss with an odyssey... OK, maybe not unbelievable, but at the very least comfortable. I tend to be a little on the portly side (yeah, I know, I'm working on that), and with a wood prop I figure I can use the weight as far up front as possible. Pro's, Con's, ????? I used an odysey battery as well and mounted it per plans; just behind the firewall in the middle. The pro's would be easy to mount, its on the .040 floor so very strong, and I ended up needing most of my firewall space, and its cleaner inside. The only con is that it will take some getting to to change it out when the time comes, and to hook up a charger you need to remove the front pannel.. I may install a remote terminal for charging. Don't think aft cg will be that big of a problem, esp. with a 0-360. Just did final my weight&balance, with about 30 lbs of obsolete gyro gear (did my panel before the Dyon's appeared) I came in at 978lbs, with only 49lbs on the tail when in level attitude. -----Original Message----- From: Dave Durakovich [mailto:ddurakovich@yahoo.com] Subject: RV4-List: Battery location? --> RV4-List message posted by: Dave Durakovich Well, I finally hung the engine last night (O-360 A1A), and found an unbelievable amount of room behind it on the firewall for my battery (Odysey PC-680)!
