Do they actuate the cable with a lever like a throttle lever or what? I am just concerned they do not do it the way they do on the -9. There it is a knob you rotate (like a mixture control) and the cable immediately has to turn 180 deg in order to head off aft. Some folk report the result as the trim jumping not moving smoothly. Thanks, Steve ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 07:49:32 PM PST US From: Oldsfolks@aol.com Subject: RV4-List: Re;Electric or manual trim --> RV4-List message posted by: Oldsfolks@aol.com Our RV-4 has manual elevator trim & that is the only way I like it. The lever on ours is beside & behind the throttle quadrant. The control is a cable like boat throttle controls, very positive control without abrupt changes. My neighbors RV-6A has electric trim and it is too abrupt for my liking. You have to toggle a bit to get just what you want. Of course if everyone liked the same things - everyone would be married to redheads & driving old Fords - like me! Bob Olds RV-4 , N1191X A&P , EAA Tech. I like the way it can be changed instantly with the long lever behind the throttle quadrant and the fact that you never get to experience runaway trim the way my friend did on his -6. The only draw back that I see is the weight of the cable. Ivan Haecker -4 1168 hrs. S. Cen. TX ps. I also drive an old Ford. However, I'll have to ask my wife to dye her head red!
