Steve, I confess to knowing just enough to be dangerous with this cowl.
Generally though, Sam and Will James have designed it to replace a "stock"
RV-4 with a fixed pitch prop. In my case, I am using an Aymar-Demuth prop
and a 4" extension. Believe a CS prop would require modifying the cowl
length a few inches. Don't recall if it was shortening or lengthen.
May I suggest calling Will James. I found him to be most helpful and
straight forward. Admittedly, he wants to sell cowls, but he can cut to
some of your tech questions real quick. 850-342-9929. Wish I could be more
help.
Good Luck,
Deal Fair

Steve, one more thing to consider about the holy cowl is the cost of shipping from
Florida. It cost $362.61 to get it to my house in George West, TX. Shipping
the plenum is prepaid.
As far as this cowl being of any practical value to you, it probably will NOT.
I did not factor the shipping cost into my planning. I bought this strictly
for cosmetic reasons. Rob Ray is correct when he says the cost will buy a lot
of fuel.
You can have a solid state transponder with money to spare for the cost of one
of these. Every time I look at the new cowl, I'm going to think about that.
Is it worth it to sit on the ground and look pretty?????
I have to stay out of beer joints now because I can't afford a beer!

Deal - thanks for your very full answers. I think its probably the VANS
cowls though I think they were poorly made when I built a -9. Lets hope
the -4 is better. But I will call James. Thanks, Steve.
