Subject: | Flap Leading edge protection |
Good morning everyone. I just had my RV4 painted and the paint shop
forgot to install the tape on the leading edge to protect the flap
surface. Do the flaps have to be removed to install the protective tape?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Steve, if you disconnect the pushrods inside the fuselage, the flaps will
hang vertically down so it will be easy for you to put the protective tape
on. Did the shop paint the aircraft with them on then?
Before you move them you might want to slide some stiff brown paper between
the flap/wing to protect them while you move them down. Goodluck.
Regards, Steve.

Thanks for the tip, Stephen. They did remove the old tape and "forgot"
to replace it.
