I'm not hearing enough good things about AFS paints.  It is very labor intensive
and may have a history of adhesion problems on aluminum. Enough said.  I've
researched the WEB and find two interesting products.  Both are waterborne polyurethane
industrial finishes.  One is Slickthane, the other is a version of Imron
by Dupont.  Both are near or at zero VOC.  Has anyone out there ever heard
of these or any other similar products being used on an aluminum airplane? 
I've got inquires in to both companies and will report back if I learn anything
pertinent. SMC
