--> RV6-List message posted by: "Shirley Harding" <shirleyh@starwon.com.au> The plans show the F6116 rudder pedal/brake mounting blocks have a 3 degree offset on the holes - why is this? Which way should they be installed? Can't find any explanation in the manual. DO NOT ARCHIVE Shirley Harding RV6 QB Perth, Western Australia

--> RV6-List message posted by: "Jeff Orear" <jorear@new.rr.com> Shirley: That offset compensates for the taper of the longeron from F604 to the firewall that you will mount the blocks to. F604 is wider than the firewall, so the longerons will not be parallel to themselves in the area where the rudder pedal mounts are located. The offsets in the holes for the pedal weldments should therefore point toward the firewall. Hope this helps. --> RV6-List message posted by: "Ralph E. Capen" <recapen@earthlink.net> I just finished drilling these myself... Since the fuselage is coming together as you progress forward, you need to 'point' these holes forward so the brake/rudder assy's cross the fuse properly. First, I drilled the #12 holes that the bolts go through, then I marked the upper and lower halves to match them, next I cut them in half the long way (like the center one) - to facilitate assembly and maintenance. After determining where I wanted the assemblies installed (had to get the seats to test sit), I was able to clamp the lower halves in place to drill through the mid-longeron. Hope this helps...pictures if you want them...zap me directly. --> RV6-List message posted by: RikVincent@aol.com once you put the pedal assy. in the blocks they only fit nicely one way.The pedal assy thats a bit longer goes aft then the taper will fit the angle of the longeron it mounts to. I mounted it as per plans and with the seat in the rear position they fit me nice at 5'9". Have fun Rick RV 6 90%

When you hold them in place with the rudder bar installed it will be obvious which way they should go. Harry Crosby Pleasanton, California RV-6, firewall forward
