This afternoon the truck arrives with my used O-360 from a 1968 Aero Commander Lark that the owner couldn't sell. It only has 160 hrs since it's first major. The cost? $9500, and of course I had to pay for shipping, removal and a pre-purchase inspection. I had no luck with Trade-A Plane, Wentworth etc. locating an engine that was certified, undamaged and had logs. My only point is that there may be sources for engines out there if you look really hard. I put a "want ad" in Barnstormers and the Lark owner responded. Greg Honolulu Dean Psiropoulos wrote: --> RV6-List message posted by: "Dean Psiropoulos" I'm looking for a good source for one of the new O-360 lycoming work-a-likes (I'd also like to hear from you folks who've been flying the new Superior engines, I've heard good things about them). I have talked with Bart Lalond at Aerosport power (Kamloops B.C. Canada) and was VERY impressed. That was when I lived in Oregon and I now live in Florida so I'm wondering if a shop with Aerosport's reputation can be found in the lower 48. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks. I posted this to the engines list yesterday and only got a couple responses (two "YA BABY" votes for Bart). Does that mean everyone knows and uses engines from Aerosport power. Is there is NO shop in the U.S. than can match his prices or customer service? WOW! RV builders, is this true? Are you all using Bart's engines (or new Lycs from Van's)? It wouldn't surprise me too much. Speak to me!! Thanks. From: Genev E Reed --> RV6-List message posted by: Genev E Reed Dean: This is Doyle Reed and I'm flying a 7A that I built. I baught a new Superior 0360, it was asembled at Americas in Colinvills OK. I have 75 Hrs on it and it has preformed flawlessly. My only complaint is after I baught it they droped their price about $3000.00. So I'm not real happy with Superior. If I was doing it again I would probable buy a new Matituck engine ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 11:30:57 AM PST US Subject: Re: RV6-List: Engine source.
