Need some help. New RV6, N99ST flew first time 4 September. Wonderful airplane!!
Garmin GNS430 for radio with PS Engineering PM3000 interphone. PTT switches
both yokes. Radio receives beautifully but will not transmit. Local receivers
hear the "click" but no voice. We've rung out the wiring (John Stark pre-wires)
and it seems OK. Antenna I'm told is good since I can receive. Pin
#6 on the Garmin (audio mic hi) will not gound out indicating the wiring is not
grounded from the Garmin to the jacks. Tried different headsets. Interphone
works fine, but back to shop to double check. Garmin has been checked and it's
good. Any ideas?? I'm stumped. Thanx. Steve

I have a Garmin 2 channel VHF and GPS in my RV6. First flew on July 12.
Had some problems interfacing to the softcomm intercom. I can't recall
exactly the model of the Garmin (I think is the 250 XLsomething).
The main problem I had is that I was using MONO headsets and the wiring in
the jacks is for stereo.
I would have to look at the diagrams because I believe there are two levels
of mike input.
But what you have to determine is if the mike is triggering the carrier
output. (PTT).
You are right if you are receiving (and not just the guy next door) then your
antenna connection should be ok.
There is a chance that you have a problem with your mike audio connection.
Most of these intercoms have a jack connection that wires the headset
directly to the radio by passing the intercom (for emergency). Check to see if
yours
has this. In this way at least you make sure your radio Xmit works.

I had a problem like that and found that my radio was not going deep
enough into the tray.
