Capen" Fellow builders, How are you handling the aft side of the bolt that attaches the nosegear leg to the engine mount as it contacts the firewall? It looks like it will fit without cutting a hole and putting in a plug - but it will be touching the firewall and placing some force against it. If you've cut a hole and put in a plug - please provide details - hole size - where you got the plug, how it's sealed, etc.... Thanks, Ralph Capen RV6AQB N822AR N06 - Firewall forward. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 02:25:48 PM PST US From: Subject: Re: RV6-List: Nosegear to engine mount attach bolt 6A --> RV6-List message posted by: Ralph, I just finished doing this on my -6A. The hole location was shown on the FWF penetration plans, & the hole plug came with the finish kit. My nut (actually the bolt) just touches the plug, but is not a problem. Add washers under the bolt head to reduce the threads showing. I used a little high temp RTV to seal it in place. I have heard some builders just whack a dent in the FW with a hammer. Crude, but simple and effective. Try "pre-bending" your FW aft to provide some clearance.
