If you do a lot of crosswind landings then that certainly enters into wear patterns (outside wear upwind). In fact, I reverse them every 100. hrs of so. I have also found that the "RV Shimmy" on my RV-6A seems to depend to a great extent on the main tire wear/unbalance. Van's kit ires must be very inexpensive tires as they tend to wear out quickly also. A friend of mine whose plane build I mentored has Michelin Aero tires with almost 300 hrs and they show little wear.(RV-8). Go figure? I am replacing my Van's tires next annual (Sept.06) with Goodyear Flt Custom 5.00-5 x 6 plys as I have 185.hrs on Van's and they are junk. Michelin's are good but they are French owned and unless they give em'away I won't use them. Guess I am getting old or something. How are yours wearing???? (with 123.hrs) Just for the record, how are your oil temps running? Mine were always high until I found the culprit.......... Naturally it was a vernitherm with only 3/16 " tra vel, which is not enough to seal off the port to get oil into the cooler. R eplaced the vernitherm and oil is now 195=C2=B0F !!!! It was as high as 225 =C2=B0F on 90=C2=B0F days.
