The latest update (and newer models) have a slotted hole on the F-696 and a "loosely" tightened & safety wired bolt to hold the tank in place. The idea is that if you crash and hit the wing...it won't rip open your fuel tank at this point. Instead the bolt slides out of the slot and the vessel is still sealed. Much safer. With this in mind...there is no edge distance. The slot simply becomes a support for the tank to rest on, not a rigid connection. I have mine built this way and if you call Van's they will send you the correct parts (for free or dirt cheap). Email me if you want to see a picture of mine.
