Just make sure you clean the area real well so it will adhere. K2R spot remover does real well to suck oil out of the pre-preg type epoxy cowls that Vans now supplies with their kits if that is the type you have. If not, just use naphtha (coleman's lantern fuel) or lacquer thinner. This is now a weaker area of the cowling; I did not build the airplane and am wondering what I should do about the heat first and then the cowling. The cowling may have been like this since my last oil change and perhaps will be something I deal with down the road. I can not imagine this causing a major failure but will probably just become unsightly to a point where it needs to be fixed. Any feed back is wanted and welcome.
