I started flying lessons about 20 yrs ago with no desire to fly TW, then stumbled into a great deal on a 1/3 share of a Luscombe & learned to fly in that. I have almost no time in nosegear planes since then, & I don't pay any more for TW RV insurance than nosewheel. To be clear, I'm not talking about *experience*, not ability. The underwriter just looks at numbers; he doesn't watch you (or me) fly. You're kidding, right? Guys, if you only fly off pavement & are happy limiting yourself to that kind of flying, then TW really does come down to appearance & if you don't want a TW, don't get one. On the other hand, don't be deceived into believing you have to have the skills of Chuck Yeager or Bob Hoover to safely fly a TW. Charlie See my previous post about ins.
