If you know where I can find this information I would like to hear that. (I have checked the Vans Website but have not found this information.) Thanks. George P. As an experimental YOU are the Manufacture. A ball park way of getting Vy & Vx is: Vy = Vs1 x 1.5 Vx = Vs1 x 1.3 The other thing you may want to use in determining these speeds is TEMPERATURE - OIL TEMP & CHT. I use a cruse climb of 100 MPH to 110 MPH REMEMBER Vy & Vx will change with Density Altitude. However, Van himself wrote an article a number of years ago about that very issue, & discussed the reasons that you can increase the speed quite a lot above that calculated speed without noticeably affecting rate of climb. If memory serves, it's related to the relatively low aspect ratio wing's induced drag going up rapidly at the low speeds involved at 1.3 or 1.4 * stall. I went to Van's page & searched for 'best climb speed' & got a lot of hits; here's one of the generic articles I found: > http://vansaircraft.com/public/flyrvs.htm I'd suggest emailing Van's & ask if someone can send you a copy of the article Van wrote. I'm pretty sure that his recommended best climb speed number was similar to the link above: in the neighborhood of 110-120 statute mph.
