--> RV7-List message posted by: "Mark Taylor" <mtaylor@msxi.com> Hear! Hear! Mark Taylor RV-7 QB with BMA EFIS1 Finish kit should be here in a month! Other than the non issue of a Dynon satisfying the required equipment regs., the "issue" of the DAR signing off your RV IFR is another misnomer. You will only initially be signed off for VFR flight no matter how extensive your panel is equipped. The airplane must be flown to perform the required testing of the installed IFR equipment, such as my Garmin 430. No minor or major alterations need to be performed and as I have said before, I can legally install, test and sign off the install for IFR operations. Don't make such a big deal out of a non issue, your DAR is not going to sign you off for IFR anyway, that will be the responsibility of you the builder. I won't be trying to hide anything on my inspection but I'll not even bring up the subject of IFR as that does not fall into the scope of the DARs inspection. It is not his business personnally, by regs or by law. He may state his personal opinions, but that is all they are opinions. Give me the VFR ticket, then I am responsible personnally, by regs and by law. Put the stuff in and bring on the ramp check. --> RV7-List message posted by: Dougpsr@aol.com Hey Guys & Gals. My encounter with IFR in our 6A about a year and a half ago was as follows................ Since I am not a builder or mechanically inclined, I had an A&P remove the MX comm and install a G430 & CDI. I contacted FSDO and was told by that one individual to have an avionics tech sign off the proper installation and operation of the equipment and go fly. I am sure it will vary by who u talk to but that was our situation and all went well. I agree that the DAR has NOTHING to do with IFR. That is part of being EXPERIMENTAL. Good Luck. --> RV7-List message posted by: "Hedrington, Bret" <bhedrington@PowerSentry.com> Good answer... I've been doing some digging...Your right...Thanks... The DAR does not have anything to say weather it is IFR or not...But in his mind he does...Well...You know how that goes... I originally thought the DAR has to sign off on the IFR tests during the test phase...But no...and you don't have to test your IFR until after your test phase...But before you fly IFR... This has been good... I Hate the FAR's and the FAA speak...Why can't they just say what they want...and not the junk that is written in the FAR's Bret N997RV -----Original Message----- From: Dana Overall [mailto:bo124rs@hotmail.com] Subject: RE: RV7-List: EFIS & IFR --> RV7-List message posted by: "Dana Overall" <bo124rs@hotmail.com> >The DAR's I've talked to say that they will not let a experimental glass >cockpit go for IFR...But maybe in the next year or so I can convince them >of the errors in their way.... > > >Bret >N997RV > Other than the non issue of a Dynon satisfying the required equipment regs., the "issue" of the DAR signing off your RV IFR is another misnomer.
